Staff Profile
Vanessa Osborne
BSc(Hons)., RegMRCSLT., HPCR., CACDP (Stage 1 BSL)
Vanessa is responsible for coordinating the Therapy service within the College at St Mary's. She is a qualified Speech and Language Therapist and particularly enjoys the fact that, as well as having some managerial responsibility, she also has the opportunity to work with her own caseload of students.
Vanessa has been qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist for twenty years. She worked initially at St Mary's in 1990 as a therapist and really enjoyed this experience. Vanessa then got married and spent several years working for Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) in Kathmandu, Nepal. She found this to be a very challenging and fascinating experience and learnt a lot, which she has drawn on every since. Vanessa is still very involved with VSO, and works for them as a volunteer selector throughout the year.
Vanessa has been working in the College at St Mary's since it opened in 2000. Although she has enjoyed working with all of the children, Vanessa particularly likes working with the post 16 age group. As a therapist, she finds it very rewarding to work with the students in developing their functional skills in preparation for their adult life.
