Sue Munn

Office Manager
NVQ4 (Mgmt)., RSADip (level 3)., C&G Dip (IT)

Sue joined St Mary's in September 2001 as an Administrator.  She had previously worked at Hastings College on the administration side of a project which managed UAE students coming to England to live with host families and study various courses in colleges throughout the country.  Prior to this, she had developed a variety of software skills, ICT qualifications and experience from previous employment, including Reception based work, Data Entry and general administration work.

Sue lives locally in Bexhill with her husband and they have three grown up daughters.  She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and continues to have a keen interest in the activities that her daughters are involved with, in particular, dancing.  The family spent many hours travelling, often long distances, to various dance festivals for one of their daughters to take part and they continue to do so whilst supporting their daughter, who has her own pupils taking part in the festivals.  Two daughters are now setting up Keep Fit and exercise classes locally.  Sue and her husband now regularly enjoy watching their daughters' partners play football.  Last year, Sue and one of her daughters became qualified Balloon Artists and as a family, alongside their main jobs, have just started a family business in Balloon Decorating.

After one year as Administrator at St Mary's, Sue became responsible for College Administration and set up several useful Administrative systems which have continued as the College has grown.

In September 2003, Sue was appointed as Office Manager.  She has developed the role and implemented many new systems in a very busy office!  She is very supportive of all the Administrators in the team, particularly in encouraging the development of their skills, knowledge and further training, as well as striving to ensure that the department offers a good service.  Sue rises to the challenges that she faces in what can be a very busy department, with no two days being the same!

Sue has undertaken several courses including achieving NVQ4 in Management and more recently gained the accolade of Distinction in the Certificate of Business Office Information Systems - a course that all Administration staff are studying which is run by the University of Plymouth.  Sue is now planning on moving on to the HE level of this course.

Recently, Sue has taken on more, overall, responsibility for the Administration side of the Department.  This also includes taking an active role in fundraising for St Mary's, which she is very enthusiastic about and thoroughly enjoys.  This includes organising the Christmas and Summer Fayres.  She has also worked closely with Kay Parkin, Director of Finance and Human Resources, and Leah Norman, Head of Catering, in hosting a very successful 'Auction of Promises' and setting up regular 'Table Sale' events, as well as planning events for the future.
