Craig Ribbons
Craig was appointed as Head of College at St Mary's in April 2009. Until September 2007, Craig had lived in Essex all of his life, with the exception of the three years that he was at University in Surrey. He now lives in Punnetts Town - Heathfield. Craig is married to Sue who is a teaching assistant and has two children and one grandchild.
He qualified as a teacher in 1980, taught for five years in mainstream secondary schools and then worked for a further five years within youth and community services.
Since 1990, Craig has worked in a variety of settings, teaching and managing - education, care and health professionals. These establishments include Children Homes, Local Authority Secure Units, Residential Special Schools and Pupil Referral Units. His driving passion for working with pupils and students alike is to support them in achieving their potential and having aspirations to make a significant contribution to society.
The breadth of experience that Craig has equips him with the skills necessary to manage the diverse staff group at St Mary's.
During 2008, Craig completed his National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and is currently undertaking his Master of Arts degree in Education.
His leisure and sporting interests are many and varied but in particular he continues to be involved in rugby. Having been a player and coach for nearly forty years, he is a referee at Heathfield Rugby Club and also an honorary vice president of Thurrock Rugby Club. Other interests include fine food, fine wine and fine company.
