Audiology

The Trust has an Audiology Department staffed by a qualified Teacher for Hearing Impaired Children / Educational Audiologist with a cross Trust role (School and College / Education and Health Services).  The department is equipped to carry out a range of audiological assessment procedures, hearing aid programming and fitting, and to monitor and maintain the use of a range of audiological equipment including personal hearing aids, cochlea implants, radio aids, sound field systems, and assistive listening devices.  The department works closely with the local PCT Audiology Department with access to electro-acoustic assessments.

The philosophy and practice of the department rests on the belief that it is essential that all hearing impaired pupils at St Mary's have the opportunity to make best possible use of their residual hearing at all times and in all situations.  To accommodate this, audiological issues are dealt with as a priority.
